SUVW… Round 1.
My first set of jewelry prototypes came in the mail today.
There are three pieces.
A ring, necklace, and bracelet.
The ring is ready to go. I love it!
The necklace needs a longer/thinner chain and some minor adjustments, but other than that it’s cute.
And the bracelet…well, the bracelet looks like shit.
It needs some work.
It’s not how I pictured it in my head and I have no desire to wear it.
Rob has encouraged me to wear though. He swears he likes it and is convinced that it will grow on me if I give it a chance.
Maybe he’s right.
I know I can be quick to shoot things down when they aren’t what I initially expect or picture.
So, I’ll take his advice and wear it around for a few days.
Maybe my feelings will change in doing so.
If not, then it’s back to the drawing board.
I know what I’ll do, I’ll wear it to brunch this weekend and see what my friends think.
Their feedback could be helpful.
But maybe I don’t need feedback and I should just trust my gut.
Right now my gut is telling me to scrap it and start over.
Perhaps I don’t even need to put out a bracelet.
Just roll with the necklace and ring. Add some earrings or something.
I don’t know.
It’s late and I’m rambling.
I can’t sleep. Rob and Lucy are both snoring beside me.
Must be niceeeee.
I will say that it’s super cool to see things that were just sketches in my notebook five months ago turn into real-life jewelry.
Bringing ideas to life gets me super excited.
It’s like a natural high.
Seeing the pieces makes Speak Up Voicewear more real now.
I’m excited but mostly grateful to have the opportunity to work on something that really matters to me.
Anyway, I’m not going to stress about the bracelet.
This is the first round of prototypes. I can’t expect to get it all right on the first try.
I’ll figure it out.
But for now, I’m going to sleep.
*P.s. Here are my old sketches. Clearly, I’m no artist.
Now I know why my bracelet came out looking like shit.
